JW Animal Protein Begins Producing Gelatin and Collagen

Bangladesh JW Animal Protein Co., Ltd. — the plant in Savar, Dhaka that supplies our bovine-hide gelatin raw material — has entered trial production of gelatin and collagen, using raw material recovered from tannery leather waste.

According to a report by Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) on 28 July 2026, the company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) to process waste from the Savar Tannery Industrial Estate, which generates about 20,000 tons of tannery solid waste a year. Once its expansion is complete, the plant will be able to process all the hide waste produced in the estate, providing a traceable, circular supply of cattle-hide raw material for gelatin production.

The trial production builds on the earlier memorandum of understanding with Dhaka Tannery Industrial Estate Waste Treatment Plant Company and further strengthens the “hide-to-gelatin” raw-material supply chain behind our bovine-hide gelatin.
